Grand Bahama Island - The Bahamas Weekly brings you an exclusive video interview with His Excellency Cornelius A Smith, Bahamas Ambassador to Washington, taken on Friday, April 4th, 2008 during his visit home to attend a special evening held in his honour on Saturday, April 5th at the Xanadu Hotel.
In this interview Ambassador Smith speaks about his recent appointment as Ambassador to Washington, along with his Chairman of Permanent Council appointment with the Organization of the American States (O.A.S.); he shares where he was born and talks about what he misses most about The Bahamas; he talks of his new life in Washington and his networking with other Bahamians living there; and he speaks of his early years in politics where he was a founding member of the Free National Movement, and ran for four consecutive 5-year terms for the Pine Ridge constituency.

Grand Bahama Island - The 1st Annual Authentically "Grand" Bahamian Gift and Craft Festival was held on Friday, April 4th at 6pm at Taino Beach, and was a huge success. Artisans from Grand Bahama and throughout The Bahamas were on hand to show off their wares. The event was officially opened on Friday evening with a ribbon cutting ceremony and presentations, all under the distinguished patronage of The Minister of Tourism & Aviation, The Hon. Neko Grant.
